A larger than life marble head of a putto or child, most probably from an altar decoration.
The putto show animation and movement, especially in the carving of the cheeks and lips. The head is turned to the left.
The large eyes, strong nose and curly hairs are typical of the XVII c. Near complete, encrustations and grey deposit over the surface. Cleaning may be attempted by professional hands. A hole in the upper back part for suspension.
