The putto show animation and movement, especially in the carving of the cheeks and lips. The head is turned to the left.
This treatment creates a contrast of light and shadow, which is typical of altar, and especially "glory" figurative decoration, where putto heads seem to speak
or sing while flying between large rays of light carved in stucco.

The large eyes, strong nose and curly hairs are typical of the XVII c.
Said to originate from a castle decoration, from an earlier provenance. May also come from a tomb decoration.

Near complete, encrustations and grey deposit over the surface. Cleaning may be attempted by professional hands. A hole in the upper back part for suspension.
