Wonderfully picturesque, this piece of decoration for an alcove or den was adapted to the wishes of each customer by the marchand-merciers, furnishers of the high society. The beautiful massive rocaille base could be replaced by a base supporting a biscuit or a porcelain. Similarly, wealthiest customers could choose to decorate them with Vincennes or Meissen flowers, explaining the presence of unused mounting holes. It is almost certain that this clock never received such flowers.

Some lacks, especially the last flowers of the right branch.
