Beautiful mantelclock in yellow marble and gilt bronze, adorned with figures of Cupids offering grapes to a young woman, possibly a vestal. The figures are treated in the style of the second half of the eighteenth century: the young woman has a pointed face with slight eyes, a slender body draped all'antica, in a languid and elegant pose. A flying offers a bunch of grapes while another shyly hides behind the base of the clock. The oval base is decorated with gilt copper plates on the sides, and a panel of gilt bronze in front, decorated with a scene of playing putti and cupids around a fruit basket and a small dish. The enamel dial is signed André Furet in Paris. Is is without doubt Jean-Baptiste-André FURET, watchmaker to the King of Spain and watchmaker to the King of France for his library, working in Paris in Rue Saint Honore. The hammer is reattached to the back and screws were replaced. Beautiful ringtone (Standard key not included). Some cracks in the marble and enamel dial accident. Gilding slightly worn off at some points.
