Sèvres biscuit mantelclock, Louis XVI period ![]()

This lovely end XVIII th century mantelclock is entirely made of biscuit from the Royal Manufactury of Sèvres near Paris, decorated with a naked woman holding a rose in suspension claimed by a little winged Amor. The figures treated in the neo-classical manner on a stand in blue and white biscuit adorned with garlands and cushions. The base rests on four balls of gilt bronze is adorned with a plaque of bronze decorated with a playing putti scene in the Clodion style. Enamel dial signed "Martinot à Paris". Later mechanism, unverified. Mark of the Sevres factory under the base. Some stains and lacks, in particular several fingers. The woman's foot broken and poorly reattached.
