   Bronze figure of Mars seated, allegory of Napoleon Bonaparte, Empire period



   Large bronze figure of Mars seated after the mantelclock now in the Louvre know as the "marriage of Mars and Venus clock", allegory of the marriage of Napoleon I and Marie-Louise. (See also here).

   The model of this clock was designed by Prudhon for the vermeil psyche by Odiot offered to Marie-Louise by the city of Paris.

   On a modern metal stand. The right arm of Mars, holding the hand of Venus allegory of Marie-Louise, must be reattached.
